Winter Woollies Edit

I wiled away a few very pleasant hours over the weekend switching over to my winter capsule. To get an overview of the changes I have made do check out my My Current Capsule on the blog here and also my Pinterest board here.

Now onto those all important woollies......now I say that because I have a feeling these are going to be my key items this winter. Good job I didn't add to the coat collection......I'm beginning to wonder if I didn't go a little overboard on the boots front in light of recent developments. Just how many opportunities are we going to have to wear them in the coming months? I think investing in a few more cosy clothes is the way to go this winter. I had a huge overhaul of my sweaters recently and parted with lots of duplicates so with the funds from my eBay sales I've added a couple of newbies. I must admit that in my autumn capsule I did struggle the most with the tops - another reason for expanding on this area of my wardrobe. I felt as though I lacked choice and could have done with a bit more colour so I have remedied that. Granted though what's hanging up in my wardrobe now is all still pretty neutral! I was craving some green and when I spotted this sweater on the Weekday website I was drawn to it. It's fairly similar to my & Other Stories mock neck jumper which has been a hands down winner this season so far.

I also plumped on another green sweater from Weekday but in a totally different style and shade of green. I really love the vibe of this brand - I mentioned in my jeans edit that this is somewhere that I'm excited to shop more in the future as their styles really appeal to me.

Last of the new items - adding a bit of red......more of a berry shade though. I was attracted to this one following the success of another recent sweater purchase from H&M. I am very drawn to the shorter length which sits well on my straight leg jeans and trousers - it's also the perfect length to wear with my pleated skirts too. I do like the stitch style of the knit and as I mentioned I've already had a lot of wear out of my similar beige one which has been such a wardrobe hit (see further down the post with my black pleated skirt).

Now onto the sweaters I've pulled out of storage. Most of my knits are plain - this & Other Stories one is the only patterned one I have (not including a stripe). It reminds me of a camo print for some reason. It's from & Other Stories (they do such great knitwear I find!) but it's a couple of years old - but I have found a good alternative!

Alternative to & Other Stories jumper

Last winter marked the beginning of my experimentation with a capsule wardrobe. I really felt I'd drilled down my signature style which consisted of an oversized roll neck, coated black skinnies, with a coat and hi tops. And so there are quite a few pieces that are similar in style - just different colours and textures.

The same style.....but different! This one is from & Other Stories and is two years old. They did these again last year and as I found it so useful I also bought it in grey!

And then I found a black version as well so I went for the hat trick!

Love a good stripe and so even though winter was almost over I did purchase this All Saints jumper early this year (it was well reduced in their sale!). I reached for it often - it was such good buy!

I have also carried over quite a few pieces from the autumn capsule - a few autumn outfits here so you can see how I styled them!

The H&M beige sweater I mentioned further up the post!

Ending on my current beloved & Other Stories mock turtle neck jumper...........

Adidas track bottoms (mine are a size 12 - I'm usually a 10 but wanted a slouchy fit)
Birkenstocks (my around the house shoes)

Well that's a wrap on the woollies front!

I'll be back at the weekend with my version of a gift guide. I'm currently doing my Christmas shopping online so I thought I'd share what I'm buying for my family and friends and the things I've put on my wish list.......just to warn you they are all very practical and not particularly exciting. If you are stuck for ideas I hope to inspire you!

Back again soon, Michelle x
