Autumn Knitwear Edit

Just a very quick talk through the pieces of knitwear in my wardrobe currently - I realised I skimmed over this area quite quickly whilst sharing the autumn capsule a couple of weeks ago. These are only going to see me through until the colder temperatures kick in.......then I'll be bringing some chunky roll necks and heavier knits out to play. I'm just still a bit resistant to going all out winter just yet.

The knits fall into two camps really - a few crew necks for layering under blazers along with a couple of jumpers that can be worn on their on on milder days and a few more bits that are kind of in-between!

First up is a Merino crew neck that I purchased last year from M&S. I bought purely because of the colour - I knew the tan colour would bring a few outfits together in my wardrobe.....example below! Sadly they haven't done anything similar this year but I have found something similar from Everlane.

I have also popped in a couple of cashmere crews from Uniqlo in charcoal and black......they are great basics and the foundation garment of many of my outfits! Outfit examples below. My tip with these is to size up......mine are both large. I have found they wash and wear well.

The tale of two similar sweaters! Both from H&M. This one can easily be worn under a jacket or mac and I love it with a skirt, a smarter trouser or jeans.

Boots - link to eBay search US sizes are plus 2 on UK - I'm a 6 so I bought an 8

Although this is very similar it does a slightly different 'job' in my wardrobe. I only have one coat that goes over this as the sleeves are very voluminous. Said coat hasn't come into play at the moment so I tend to wear this on milder days when a jacket is not required! I wear this one more with jeans as I love the shorter length - it sits just below the waist on my jeans......perfect! I actually picked this up in a preloved sale but H&M seem to do the same style every year.......there are plenty of colours to choose from here.

Here's another example of a repeat purchase......yep, it's a very hard to break habit! Same style purchased in two different colours. Both purchased from H&M a couple of years ago but again they have done similar this year. I guess it just proves for me that by sticking to neutral basics and simple styles these things will be in my wardrobe and get the wear year on year.

Adidas track bottoms (mine are a size 12 - I'm usually a 10 but wanted a slouchy fit)

Now. I adore this sweater but alas it is the most impractical jumper I own. As the 'collar' stands up and the general batwing sleeve style of it - it really is one of those pieces that I tend to cosy up at home in. I do the odd short car journey in it on the milder days as again it only goes under my puffa jacket which is very oversized. I have found a gorgeous alternative here though!

Zara sweater, past season - fab and way more practical alternative here!

This is my most recent knitwear purchase......I've already waxed lyrical about this. I've already worn it four times since I got it two weeks ago. It's a mock turtle neck which sits perfectly on high waisted jeans and looks lovely with a skirt too! See below. As my winter wardrobe does err on the dark side I went for black but they do it in other colours here. It's an acrylic blend with a small percentage of wool.....very cosy fabric, no itchiness about it at all. I went with a size small.

New Look skirt - alternative here currently reduced! :0)

Last but not least - another jumper from & Other Stories. This is a couple of years old now but I love it. It's the only sweater I have that layers well over a dress.....though my favourite way of wearing it is with skinny jeans and hi tops or boots. It's just a cosy oversized style that they sadly no longer do but I've found similar here.

That's all from me on the knitwear front - I'll do an update once I start swapping and adding the winter weight knits to my wardrobe!

I'll be back at the weekend with another post on accessories now the hats, scarves and gloves are starting to make an appearance! I have a lovely new bag to share too!

See you next time, Michelle x
