My Autumn Footwear Essentials

I am by no means ready to get my boots out (or coats for that matter) for autumn yet. I tend to hold off for as long as possible because once it starts it feels like winter goes on forever! I truly believe that it's your footwear and accessories that really take your outfit to the next level.

Now my favourite shoes to funk up my mum taxi uniform are my leopard print Vans. These are brilliant to slip in too as you fly out the door if you are running late for the school run - no fuss as no laces to contend with and they bring a certain something to a rather plain shirt and jeans combo - see my outfits this week below. I've have heard the Vans are back in stock after being sold-out for a while so here you go!

As they were sold out I did also find these alternatives...........

I have classic checked Vans too......though I will say I don't find the checks as versatile as the leopard. I'm just about shy about mixing my prints and I must confess that I prefer to keep things monochrome and just wear these with items of the same colour way! Possibly a habit I need to work on in order to get maximum usage out of these.

According to my Instagram grid the footwear I've reached for the most are my Golden Goose. It could be the weather. Rain or chilly mornings = leather trainers. I was a last to the party with the GG's mainly because they are very spendy but I did treat myself for my 50th and now I think they were worth the outlay.

If you are after a new pair of white trainers and are looking for a less spendy option to the GG's  I can vouch for these Veja ones. I have these too and they are actually quite similar in shape to the Golden Goose. With the unpredictable British weather makes sense to have a couple of pairs of leather trainers.

A classic black ballet flat is a great little autumn footwear staple and if they are good enough for Alexa Chung and a mainstay of her wardrobe..........then who am I to argue?! Autumn styling perfection right here!

I love a pop of red as it lifts my love of neutrals - I especially love red with khaki so I put these in especially to wear with my mensy trousers.

I also love a Chanel inspired toe-cap pump so my autumn shoe arsenal wouldn't be complete without a pair of these! Mine are a preloved French Sole pair - I've had them for a couple of years. These are a style that will be in your wardrobe for years to come!

I'm not quite ready to give up my sandals just yet so I've left out my Arizona Love - leopard print again of course! There is a little heatwave due so I'm hoping to get a few mores wears out of these before September draws to a close.

That concludes my autumn footwear choices - I'm keeping to my capsule even in the shoe department as I'm finding having less choices makes it easier to get dressed and it gives me more time to do the things I always moan about not having the time to do! Win win!

Anyway - here are my looks from the past few days. You can see how I'm utilising the footwear capsule!

Back again soon, Michelle x

  1. it's still quite hot and humid where i am in the States, so i am wearing either Rainbow flip flops or a pair of Sam Edelman slides that are a bit more put together but still very comfortable. if i'm honest i will wear the flip flops year round, even after it finally cools down. i've had my eye on a pair of rag & bone booties, but sizing reviews are all over the place. i've always loved chelsea boots but i can never make them work for me :( i love your vans leopard slip ons but because the arch of my foot is so high, i can't even get my foot in them!
