My Autumn Accessory Essentials

IGTV video to accompany this post here

As I've run through my transitional clothes and footwear choices over the past few weeks I thought I would share the accessories I've been reaching for (my straw basket bags have been relegated to storage until next year!). I'm styling all of the bags with the one dress - leopard print is the perfect backdrop to showcase them all! The dress is H&M and is sadly no longer available - however, as usual I have found an alternative here. I've also added footwear that I'd use with each bag at the moment. If you've read my last couple of posts you'll know the colour palette is all pretty neutral - no change with the bags either!

I've had a few questions about this bag so I thought I'd start with it.......

My Autumn Footwear Essentials

I am by no means ready to get my boots out (or coats for that matter) for autumn yet. I tend to hold off for as long as possible because once it starts it feels like winter goes on forever! I truly believe that it's your footwear and accessories that really take your outfit to the next level.

Now my favourite shoes to funk up my mum taxi uniform are my leopard print Vans. These are brilliant to slip in too as you fly out the door if you are running late for the school run - no fuss as no laces to contend with and they bring a certain something to a rather plain shirt and jeans combo - see my outfits this week below. I've have heard the Vans are back in stock after being sold-out for a while so here you go!

Autumn Wardrobe Additions

Following on from my last post on my autumn capsule wardrobe this time I'm sharing a few pieces that I have purchased since mid-July with my eyes firmly fixed on things that would take me right through to coats and woollies weather. I think I've filled a few gaps and added a little colour and a bit of interest to my existing staples.

I'm going to kick of with an accessory which has already (in my humble opinion) elevated many of my recent outfits! This chunky silver chain......

H&M necklace - similar here

I have my daughter to thank for this addition which is from H&M. She heads straight for the Divided section.....that's her Mecca at the moment! Anyway I noticed the necklace on display and after I linked one very similar in this blog post here I wasted no time in taking it to the checkout. It was £4.99 and I feel like I've already had my monies worth out of it! If you buy just one thing this season if you are a lover of statement jewellery then I would absolutely recommend this chain.

Transitional Wardrobe Capsule

Video to accompany the blog post here

I've been planning my Autumn capsule wardrobe for the past couple of weeks. I've had a rail up in my room and there has been plenty of faffing with it. It's been great to see the pieces hung up as it's made me realise that all the items are the core pieces of my wardrobe that spend about 75% of the year being my staples! They mainly get worn during spring and autumn but there are a few things that I draw on all year around.

This is my phase one - I'm pretty confident we will enjoy an extended summer and have some lovely warm temps throughout September. So this is my plan for the next six weeks or so. I expect to be be swapping in a few warmer jackets and knits by mid October (I definitely recall  the weather being pretty good for the last few October half term weeks!). There are still a few things left hung in my wardrobe in case I don't reach for some of the things on my rail.....there may be an item or two that is a little ambitious for the coming weeks - who knows?

Without further ado I'll start with t-shirts. A plain black tee from Weekday and that transitional must have......a Breton! The Weekday t-shirt is a firm favourite I prefer a cap sleeve to an elbow length sleeve (which I always roll up shorter anyway!). I bought this tee this time last year (when I was in Copenhagen for my birthday). It's one of their core basics so they still do it in a variety of colours. I've worn it a lot! The neck is slightly higher than a normal crew and along with the cap sleeve which I think makes it an elevated little basic.
