My TK Maxx finds and tips on how to shop there!

If you fancy watching me talk through these pieces - click here

Over the years I have had a lot of luck in TK Maxx and whenever I share the bits and pieces I've found on the blog or Instagram I usually get left a comment along the lines of 'I can never find anything good in there'. Well I'm hoping to inspire you to have a good look next time you swing by or even have a mooch online. This isn't a sponsored post.....my hope is that you just find it useful. A bit like eBay it helps to know your brands when it comes to TK Maxx and look with an open mind - just see what you can find! Tip no. 1 head straight to the Gold Label department (instore and online) for the big tag designer items such as Chloe and Stella McCartney. My favourite section is the Contemporary Designers where you can find things you would generally pick up in independent boutiques such as Iris Fashion or Feather and Stitch. A case in point would be this Star Mela dress I bought last year. I found it on the clearance rail for £36. These normally retail at the 100 pound mark. Which brings me on to another tip - when searching for this brand search only on the word Mela. Star brings up a whole of stuff whereas Mela brings the good stuff to the top and saves you having to filter through.

I'll link to whatever TK Maxx currently has to offer by each brand
The cheapest item I can remember ever buying is this Cecilie Copenhagen top. These are usually in the region of £100. I found mine for £9 in the clearance. Not to be sniffed at ehh?! I saw lots of this instore last year  and a few pieces some online sadly nothing available at the moment though).

I found this gorgeous Splendid sweatshirt, like the previous two items it was in the Contemporary Designer clearance section in the Bath store. I paid £29.99 for it - I can't find anything to compare it to online but I think they would normally retail at about £80. It's a great basic - something I've worn again and again. I've noticed an American Vintage (similar kind of brand) grey top online here

Always check the jeans rail! I currently have 3 pairs from TK Maxx. First up is a J Brand pair - bargain of all bargains since they are normally £200+. Mine were all of £16 in clearance again. The style is called Johnny mid rise boyfriend.

I also found a great pair of Rag & Bone jeans. These were in the clearance too! They are Slouchy Boy Fit unisex jeans. I hacked the hem off off as I like a raw edge. Rag & Bone stuff pops up online regularly so do keep your eyes peeled!

Last but not least I scored a pair of Levis 501 CT's. Again in the clearance......they were just £15! Sliced the hems off these too! There are lots of Levis available online at the moment.

I think this next purchase is the only Gold Label one I've ever made. This Stella McCartney silk crepe shirt is currently on The Outnet for £198. I paid £79.99 last year. Paired here with the J Brand jeans. All the Stella McCartney available online here.

I couldn't do this post without touching on my DKNY leather biker jacket - though I've mentioned it many times before. It's a sample - according to the inner label and was a steal at just £34.99! There are lots of DKNY clothing, bags and accessories currently online here.

When you want to invest in a good quality winter coat look no further than TK Maxx. I have been lucky enough to find and purchase not one but two Jaeger boyfriend coats. One camel and one navy. Both absolute classics that will be in my wardrobe forever. One thing to note is that these may not be from Jaeger's mainline as they also produce clothing for their outlet shops. Still lovely quality but the fabric content is often a blend with polyester instead of 100% wool. These coats were both £130 - I purchased them online. Start keeping an eye for autumn/winter stock coming through in September/October time as you'll make a great saving........Jaeger currently have similar online in both colours they are reduced from £325 to £249.

My favourite coat of all though......it's up there with my beloved DKNY leather biker jacket is this Fahri coat (Nicole Fahri diffusion line). Don't you find all the best things when you aren't there looking for yourself?! I went shopping with my mum to buy my teenage daughter some Christmas presents (TK Maxx is great for picking up Tommy Hilfiger, Champion, Ivy Park and Calvin Klein - all her favourite brands) anyway - I digress! I had a quick snoop through the rails and spied this beauty. I couldn't justify buying another coat at the time so my mum offered to buy it for me for Christmas. I had to sit on my hands for about 6 weeks waiting for it but I can honestly say it was worth it - it was my most worn coat this winter. It's boiled wool, unlined with pockets.......absolutely ideal for wearing over bulkier knitwear and completely my signature winter look. I adore it!

The oldest item I own from TK Maxx is this beautiful French Connection cape/shrug. Not quite old enough to qualify as vintage but it certainly has that look. I've always held onto it knowing it would come in handy for occasion wear. Maybe my daughter might make use of it for her prom though that's a couple of years off. Just yesterday though I spotted some great inspiration so perhaps I should wear it with a vest and shorts very casually to get some wear out of it.......I'm loathe to part with it.

TK Maxx currently have a designer pop up - lots of lovely Ralph Lauren for women online. A few other designers I would keep an eye out for are Duffy NY cashmere, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, Gestuz, DKNY, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella Frost (lovely French brand!), Jerome Dreyfuss and Isabel Marant.

I hope I have inspired and motivated you to have a good look next time you are in TK Maxx.....there are some gems to be had! If you have found any treasures there please do share your shopping tales.

Back again soon, Michelle
