THOSE LITTLE EXTRAS THAT GIVE YOUR A/W OUTFITS A LIFT

This blog post is a shout out to all those little details that elevate our autumn/winter ensembles. Because let's face it - during the colder months when it's usually all about switching up the coat and footwear choices to ring the changes. Add a scarf, hat and gloves and voila you have a different take on your standard outfit fare. I've been asked about my jewellery (particularly my bracelets) quite a lot lately so that I will share those too!

First of all - a disclaimer. Accessories do present us with an ideal opportunity to add a pop of colour to brighten up the darker months.....and tendency to go for darker colours. However as I am striving towards a more minimal wardrobe I am leaning towards more neutral tones. I'm just pretty conscious that everything I am sharing is pretty much black though I am looking to remedy that with some grey and camel tones as I'm aware those shades would be a bit kinder around my face. Just thought I would clear that up as occasionally I have been criticised for wearing too much black......you like what you like though and it's with style it's all about whatever makes you feel good.

So here goes. Lets start at the top. Come winter I do love a beanie hat.....they are especially great for crappy hair days! I've had my faithful black cashmere one for a couple of years now. I absolutely believe it's worth investing in a cashmere one.....acrylic ones have a tendency to make my hair stand on end........and a barnet full of static is not a good look!

H&M puffa jacket, past season - current version
Gloves are an absolute must for me as the minute it gets cold my hands rather painfully crack up. I am partial to a leather pair. Again I've had this pair for a couple of years. They are lined with cashmere so super soft and warm inside. With the quilting these have all the Chanel vibes about them. These have 20% off at the moment with code LG20.

A scarf always adds a something extra to an outfit. This is a good way to incorporate some colour if you so wish! An Acne Canada has been on my wish list for a while now. I was lucky enough to receive one for my birthday (thank you mum!). I love the fact that it's long and narrow and can be wrapped around a couple of times.....a la Dr Who style! I went for black naturally but I'm coveting the camel & grey colour ways too now!

If you a a weekend sports spectator I would also absolutely recommend adding a cashmere snood to your scarf arsenal! My daughter plays netball on a Sunday and wearing one of these makes the standing around in the freezing cold for 2 hours that bit more bearable! Very cosy indeed.

Time to talk shades now. I'm never without mine.....I wear them all year round. In the summer I like a lighter gold frame and sport either Ray Ban aviators or round metal frames. In the winter I prefer a heavier frame and I'm all about the iconic Ray Ban wayfarers.

I managed to scratch the lens on my beloved wayfarers recently but the good news is that Ray Ban have an excellent repair service. They were returned to Italy by UPS for the lenses to be replaced which cost £34 including shipping there and back which I think is brilliant! They are like new now.....even came back in a brand new case.

If you are after a more purse friendly alternative I can't rate these these highly enough. They are excellent value for £40 and are very similar to the Wayfarers.

And so onto jewellery. I often get asked about my watch. I wear my dads vintage (1980s) Rolex everyday.

I'm often asked on Instagram Stories about my stack of bracelets. They jangle. I wear a bit of a mixed bag of old and new so I've linked what I can and tried to find alternatives. My preferred metal is silver at the moment.

DKNY BLACK LEATHER STUDDED CUFF BRACELET (CURRENTLY WITH 20% OFF)
TIFFANY & CO BEAD BRACELET (my tag is round but they don't seem to do it now)

I would have included bags in this amongst this lot but I think they deserve an entire post devoted to them. It might also have been wise to include a few wet weather accessories as well as it feels like it's not stopped raining here for days. Time to do a bit of research on those.....anyone have any suggestions......rain friendly hats in particular have sprung to mind.

Anyway I've just shared a few of my faithful favourites here. I may have added one or two in different colours to my Black Friday/Christmas wish list ;0) I'm all for adding a couple more quality accessories to my little collection now I've tried and tested them!

To finish up like I used to here's a couple of recent outfits for you.
