Holiday attire!

This blog post contains affiliate links and gifted items.

The holiday blues are just setting in, so I thought I'd cheer myself up by creating this little online diary of what I wore. This will be a useful to look back on when I'm trying to pack for my next holiday. I did refer to previous holiday posts......as I mentioned before I found it quite a challenge this time. We went to Lanzarote a little earlier than usual this yearand as we hadn't had much sun yet in the UK I'd couldn't find my summer clothes mojo!

I'm kicking off with my outfits but I have put in a few of my recommendations at the bottom of the post should you be going to Lanzarote.....I hope it's useful!

Let's kick off with this cracker of a dress that I bought whilst I was there. There is a lovely shopping centre in Puerto del Carmen......it's one of the Islands assets that keeps us going back! The Oysho shop is just across from Zara and I was torn between this leopard print maxi dress......but this green one stole my heart. I plan to wear this to a wedding in June too so it's not just a holiday dress!

I bought two dresses whilst I was there, this Mango one is the other purchase. It's got a lovely crossover back....doesn't flash your bra though! The Spanish sizing in Mango was different to the UK sizing on the website. I'm wearing a medium which I believe to be a UK size 10.

This dress is a favourite from last summer - it's preloved Warehouse that I purchased from One.Stylist.List Claire has a sale coming up from 3rd -6th of May in Bath. It is well worth paying her a visit. Do drop her a DM for more details. I have already arranged to see her on Friday!

A gingham sundress.......what's not to love!

An old favourite. I love this Gap jumpsuit, it's simple and elegant as well as being super comfy!

I loved this Zara dress so much I bought it in two colours! I only took the khaki on holiday. Purchased last summer but they have done similar again this year.

I may have made a couple of other purchases in Zara.....

Sharing a few of my holiday heroes here! First up is this gorgeous hammam towel. I have been gifted a gorgeous towel by this lovely brand before but I purchased this one myself. The quality is amazing....and of course you can't beat a bit of leopard print. I would recommend getting a print one, I managed to get sun lotion marks all over my plain one which stains......not so much of a problem with this towel as the stains are disguised by the print!

Which brings me nicely on to this product. This mousse is amazing stuff! It goes on really easily and the protection is brilliant. And there are zero stain marks on your clothes and towels! It is pricey but worth every penny!

And lastly, my book recommendation. Had me hooked from the first paragraph. A very good read indeed.

As promised at the top of the post - here's a little blurb about Lanzarote. Feel free to duck out if it's not of interest to you! We first went to this island in 2012. We stayed in Puerto del Carmen and had a great holiday. We started going there because of the weather......the Canaries are pretty good all year round. My husbands job at the time meant we had to take our main holiday once the football season was over and then when Gracie started school it had to be during the May half term. We did flirt with Fuerteventura in 2013 but just didn't enjoy it as much. So this year was our fifth visit to Lanzarote......and the best so far. Each time we've stayed in Puerto del Carmen. It just suits us perfectly. We know where everything is....so there is no adjustment period we just rock up and relax. We've never stayed in the same accommodation twice. I've always been on the look out for the perfect place. Happy to report we found it this year. As we have an only child we are looking for somewhere where there are other kids. Gracie is great at making friends and as long as she is happy, we are happy. Gloria Izaro Club Hotel (we booked via Booking.com) was in the perfect location for us. We like to be near the Old Town and port....close to the shopping centre and our favourite restaurants, not far from the coastal path to Puerto Calero as I mentioned earlier. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We had an early flight and were able to check-in straightaway. Our apartment was perfectly sized for the 3 of us and was spotlessly clean. It was cleaned 6 out of the 7 days we were there. Breakfast was included and the choice and quality was excellent. We would usually make our own lunch in our apartment but the pool bar food was so good and reasonable we didn't bother this year. I can't sing the praises of the staff highly enough either. I should point out that I have not been sponsored by the hotel in anyway.....this a 'from the heart endorsement'. We loved this place and will be going back next year.

Sorry for chuntering on but I also wanted to give a few restaurant recommendations.....we have found these places through word of mouth so I want to pay it forward! Our two absolute favourites are Mardeleva  and My Kitchen Julius. The Mardeleva has a lovely terrace with a beautiful view......the fish dishes here are fantastic. I would book a table though as it is super busy. The same goes for My Kitchen Julius (closed on Sundays) where I would highly recommend the lamb in mint sauce......we all ordered it as it's that good! On our first night we always head to El Cangrejo Rojo. A great family restaurant with a view, lots of choice on the menu and very helpful staff. I had the Gruper which was delicious. It's quite a safe option. Another old favourite from our first trip to Lanzarote is El Poril in the port. This one has special memories for us as there is a little playground in front of it, Gracie would slip over and make friends with the local kids while we were waiting for our food. It's a family restaurant and they remember us every time we go there! This time we tried a new recommendation - Emma's Cantina Mexicana. The fajitas and chilli con carne were instant favourites so we'll be going again next time!

Ok, that's a wrap! Hope you've found the information useful! Any questions.....ask away via the comments or email me!

  1. I really like the stripey sweatshirt from Pull & Bear but have never ordered from that site before, would you say their sizing is accurate or do they come up small?
