How to style skirts!

Sorry. I've been absent from the blog for a long while. I'm not making any excuses. It just wasn't bringing me joy. However I've been set a challenge.....and so here I am again! I'm going back to my blogging roots and I'm just going to keep things simple i.e how I style new items in my wardrobe with what I've already got.
A couple of ladies have been in touch to say they find skirts more difficult to style and so I've got 2 new ones that I'm going to show you how I'm going to wear, taking me through to Autumn as well.
I'm starting with this style. Now I bought this is beige a while ago and have loved it. So when I spotted it instore in navy (after seeing it on my friend Sue) I grabbed it. It's not online but I've linked the black version instead. It isn't the easiest of styles to wear because of the paperbag waits but this is what I adore about it.

If you follow me on Instagram you'll have already seen how I've styled this twice. I wore it just the other day like so......

The first time I wore the skirt.....it went like this.

Disko Kids tee - gifted

And so onto all the other ways I plan to wear this.

Now this skirt does go with the multitude of slogan tees in my wardrobe so I'm just going to show you with a more colourful one. I've worn with flats for this shot but will also wear this with pink Converse as well.

For the cooler days a slim-fit crew or v-neck sweater works well tucked in (hence the slim fit otherwise you'll be adding bulk). I think these next 2 looks will work really well for work too!

And all navy....with a splash of leopard print....and yet more red!

Now here is the trickiest item I found to style with this skirt. A shirt. I don't own many shirts and you will want to stay away from anything too stiff as the skirt is quite rigid. I opted for a tencel denim shirt but I think how Sue styled hers is better as she wore it with a navy silk shirt as you can see here.

Even though my shirt is a slim fit it's still a bit bunchy around my waist!

And finally my favourite look! Going dressed up.....more of an event or evening look.

The golden rule when purchasing anything is to mentally tot up how many items you have in your wardrobe that will mean you get maximum wear out of everything. So, tell me. How would you wear this skirt? I'd love to hear.

I hope you've enjoyed my return to blogging post.....there is another skirt styling post coming up!

See you at the weekend!
