Another wardrobe winner, great for dressing up or down is a jumpsuit. In recent weeks I've been stalking this Mango one on their website. I umm-ed and ahh-ed over it for a couple of months, so when I noticed it had gone down to £19.99 I finally decided to take the plunge only to find it was sold out in my size. Anyway, luckily I signed up to be notified if it came back into stock and thankfully it did! I went with flat leopard print flats for evening but it will be coming out to play with paired with Converse in the coming weeks!

Now, I appreciate these outfits aren't terribly exciting but they are all classics that will come out again and again. I don't want to throw a lot of money on items that are going to sit in my wardrobe unworn and unloved, instead I prefer to make more sensible purchases that suit all areas of my lifestyle. I hope they give you a few ideas of how to mix'n'match items you may already have......we all have those moments when we peer in our wardrobes and our hearts plummet as we think we have nothing to wear!

Sound advice! I tend towards thinking that I need separate work / out / non-work wardrobes which is crazy as I don't have enough opportunities, budget or space for that! Much better to have pieces that cover all three areas and change them up a bit with different shoes, jackets and accessories. I'm tempted by the Mango jumpsuit, such a bargain and I only have a short sleeved one which, if I'm to be honest is a bit too big and might just go to eBay!
ReplyDeleteI do tend to wear the same things for work though I did want to try and avoid doing that. But it is a little easier with a few key basics if they can be worn for different occasions. The good thing is that when I get a bit bored of my trend-led pieces I do tend to take them on for work so I never actually buy anything solely for work! You are right that a completely different look can be achieved just by changing the details!
DeleteI can't believe I held out for so long on the Mango jumpsuit......it's an absolute wardrobe winner, such a bargain for the price and I believe it will come in to it's own very soon! ;0) xx
See, I agree that i don't have the budget, space or opportunities for that but then I feel like it's "less special" or something if I'm just wearing my everyday clothes to go out in. When I had a proper job I always kept my work and leisure clothes separate so I could feel properly off duty it maybe stems from that :D
ReplyDeleteI have to say that on the whole I am exactly the same with the wanting to feel "off duty" and having a bit of wardrobe division with my work clothes. There are a few bits though that easily straddle everyday stuff and evening wear too! My work clothes is made up of what was already in my wardrobe that I've just got fed up with, I rarely buy anything with the intention of only wearing it to work. Mind you, once I've worn stuff to work it's rare that'll I ever wear for anything else after! Everything I wear whilst not at work I do regard as special though.....and I enjoy mixing pieces up to straddle the day to evening-wear scenarios! I do love a wardrobe challenge! ;0) xx
DeleteI love black! And that pleated skirt is so very beautiful. I am still doubting whether I should buy a colored one or a black one.
ReplyDeleteMines skirt is a dark grey/charcoal metallic which I don't think you can go wrong with for day or evening. Last Spring I bought a dove grey chiffon pleated skirt which I wore with white Converse and sandals. Dare I say it.....I think you need both! :-/ xx
