broad sheet style inspiration

I am always on the lookout for new sources of inspiration and one of my favourite places to peruse at the moment is the Daily Telegraph's website (I've linked a few articles in some of my previous posts!). So I thought I'd do a quick post today to show you how I've adapted my look from this very stylish outfit seen here on Dree Hemingway to make it a bit more wearable for the school run!

You probably know me well enough by now.....there is no way I would rock up to school in a pink suit! I just don't want to stand out that much.....I have no need for a suit either for my stay at home mum lifestyle. But what I do have is a black jersey blazer (ancient from Zara), a band slogan t-shirt (Ramones from Primark), some smart pinstripe trews from Topshop and although I started the day in my Hush brogues, I actually swapped them over later in favour of white Converse.

Now, Topshop have a version of the grateful dead t-shirt Dree is sporting above and one can never have too many grey t-shirts! ;0)

I've found a few other alternatives too!

That's just a small selection of what I've researched online. Primark does always seem to stock this type of top so it is always worth a look there too! Are you a fan of the *band* tee?

Moving on swiftly as it's only a short and sweet one from me today, just one other outfit to share from yesterday.....

What's your favourite source of inspiration at the moment? I'd love to hear!

I'll be back with that capsule packing post I promised very soon!

  1. I don't think anyone in the real world could warrant a pink suit...Your take on the look is very wearable.Love the blog real ideas to adapt a new style....Can you do casual day skirts for the summer so hard to pull off if over 40

    1. I am totally with you on the pink suit...it's such a statement isn't it but fortunately you can adapt the elements to make it everyday wear! I do love to wear some skirts so I will be keeping my eyes peeled for some inspiration....watch this space ;0) xx

  2. Oh I so love love that pink suit and like you Michelle adore the whole look. You have adapted it perfectly and love your choice of tees (like the original one Dree is wearing it is fab! xx

    1. I thought the suit would be right up your street Fran! Definitely an outfit I could see you rockin' it! Easy to adapt once the colour palette is in my comfort zone....I shall be taking a closer look at that Toppers t-shirt! ;0) xx

  3. Love your style, where did you get the last 3 black dresses from that you posted on instagram.?

    1. Thank you so much! The very last dress was from Topshop, it was called Daisy from A/W 2015. The long maxi is H&M and they do something similar in their basic section every year. The little black cotton sundress is Whistles, I've had it for years and I bought it in the Clarks Village outlet store which is unfortunately no longer there! However I've noticed they have the dress in a coral colour on eBay that I am really tempted by! ;0) xx
