or so I thought! I have managed to secure another classic item that's been on my radar for a long time now and is another great addition to my Autumn/Winter plan. I searched high and low for one last year (see here and ,here) and bought 3 or 4 which were all returned. However when Damart got in touch with me recently and asked me if there was anything from their range that I would like to try, I opened their look book and this fur gilet immediately jumped out out me! I knew that it would fit in with my slightly grungey A/W looks of skinny ripped knee jeans, shirts and Chelsea boots! I love the way have Damart have styled it over a dress with heels here too!
The gilet also comes in another colourway, taupe and I think it is great quality and good value for £39.
I think the style of the Damart gilet works really well for me which I feel is due to the neckline and length of it. Last year the first one I tried was from New Look and it had a huge collar which totally overwhelmed me. I also bought and returned one from Next that was shorter with a stand-up collar which just didn't look right on me. The last one I purchased was from Zara which was a zip front round neck which didn't suit me either. I think the Damart one works well is as the proportions are just right length wise and of course the neck-line on this one allows me to wear a jacket underneath which was just what I was after.....see here!

One of the main reasons for me wanting to find a gilet last year was because I had a straight from work Christmas do so I wanted something I could throw over my work uniform of black skinny trousers and black suede dicker boots and add a bit of bling.....job done! I am definitely looking for other ways to dress it up too! I think this will be perfect for after work drinks now with leopard print ballet flats that I can stash in my work tote!

So come on tell me....how do you style yours? I have made a couple of purchases that will go perfectly with this.....I've shared a few of them here but I'm not quite ready to share the rest of them just yet! Needless to say I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this little number over the coming weeks though!
Some outfits to share from the past few days. I wore this outfit the other Saturday to a friends birthday lunch. When I got up the day looked like it was going to be grey but just as I was about to walk out the door the sun came out! Typical! Anyway I had just enough time to change as I had planned to wear this dress all week!

I would like to thank Damart for sending me the gilet and just to point out that I didn't feel I was under any obligation to write anything about this item but I felt it deserved it! I am very much looking forward to wearing this in the cooler days to come. It has well and truly scratched the fur gilet itch for me!
Be back soon with some of those purchases I mentioned earlier ;0)
As always I love reading and responding to your comments.

Love the gilet Michelle it looks gorgeous on you & I especially love it worn over your denim jacket. You can't beat a gilet for this time of year when the weather's not too cold.

ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna, it's all black! Brilliant idea to wear over a leather jacket.....I shall be trying that too! xx
DeleteWhat a fab gilet, very you & I love the different ways you've styled it. Definitely something that you'll get a lot of wear out of & it will look great dressed up or down! I have a faux fur gilet that I've had for a few years but it comes out every winter & I never tire of wearing it! x
ReplyDeleteHey Sian, thank you! Glad to have got my hands on a gilet at last and am very much looking forward to wearing it! xx
DeleteI am after one too! You are correct the proportions are perfect for you, LOVE how you have styled it Michelle, particularly like it layered over the denim shirt. x
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see which one you go for Annmarie and I look forward to stealing some styling ideas from you! xx
DeleteIsn't it great when you find the perfect missing piece in the clothing jigsaw! Looks so cool on you, and love the way it's fitted straight in to you look! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed....glad I didn't give up the search entirely! It just works so well with pretty much everything from my Autumn/Winter wish list, I'm pretty happy about that! xx
DeleteThat looks fab. I find fur gilets really difficult and so far I haven't managed to find one that doesn't make me look like a miniature Viking! Perhaps this is the shape I should be looking for
ReplyDeleteI think that's why I had so many problems finding the right one Helen because they can look a little overwhelming. The more fitted shape with no collar was the best shape for me hands down! xx
DeleteI would love a gilet and I would never have turned to Damart unless you had pointed it out to me Thanks. I really like the dressier styling with the dicker boots but all of these looks are great.
ReplyDeleteIt was you who sewed the seed Sarah with your post a few weeks back!! You know, I think I prefer it dressed up best too but I look forward to having a little play around with it to try out some different dressy outfits xx
DeleteGreat choice in choosing the fur gilet! Loving all your outfits as always, you look stunning in the dress for the birthday lunch.
ReplyDeleteA x
;0) It was a good choice Abbi! Thank you for the lovely compliment xx
DeleteLove this post! Can I ask is the gillet true to size? Also is it below waist length? Thank you. I'm going to order : )
ReplyDeleteHello there! I would say that Damart come up a little on the larger size. It's hip length, so definitely below the waist! Happy shopping :0)
DeleteThank you. It's ordered! : ) I got discount code from voucherbox.co.uk for 20% off plus free delivery so only £31.20 altogether : )
DeleteHow brilliant! Thanks so much for let me know! Enjoy!! xx
DeleteWow, what a great display of style. I love it all. I've been looking for something like this gilet too. I like the shaggy ones as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Joni! Thank you, I have to say the gilet is a pretty versatile item, great for now as it's just starting to get a tad chillier!
Deletep.s great blog by the way!! xx
DeleteYour gilet looks fab on you Michelle! I bought one in Tesco a couple of years ago so I will try a few new ways to style it this year! Love all your inspiration. Enjoy your week:)
ReplyDelete~Anne xx
I think if this one works as well as I think it does....I could end up going in for the taupe version too! I think it will be a handy thing to have especially if we are in for another mild-ish Winter like we had last year! xx
DeleteWe are gilet twins! I just did my photos yesterday so will link back to this post when I write mine. I agree fully with you - it's a gorgeous gilet and the quality is great. I'm delighted with mine and now I have loads of ideas on how to style it too...thanks for that! Ax
ReplyDeleteHey style twin....can't wait to see you styling yours.....I'm looking for more ideas too! Look forward to seeing you in yours v.soon! xx
DeleteOoohhhh fab gilet, Michelle. Glad you've found one at last!!! I've never even looked at Damart so maybe I should check them out! Lynne x
ReplyDeleteDo have a look at Damart Lynne....I could definitely see you in the taupe version ;0) xx
DeleteIt's absolutely perfect for you Michelle. And it looks like it's going to be a very useful addition to your wardrobe. I already have a black one but the other colour looks very tempting - I like it for all the reasons you pointed out like the neckline which makes it a bit easier to work with and proportions - it doesn't look like it's wearing you which is important! Lucky girl - to have found another of your key items!
ReplyDeleteAfter trying on a few it paid off to wait until the right one came along Sue! It is one of those items that does need to be just right proportion right. The othere I tried just swamped me. This one is just the right amount of fitted and the neckline on these does make such difference. Glad to have checked another item off that list of keys items!! xx
DeleteHello, what's the sizing like on the Topshop cardigan please? Liking the gilet too!
ReplyDeleteHello! The Topshop cardy comes up huge! I am wearing the size 8 but it's still very roomy! Hope that helps!
DeleteThanks. :0) I might try the 8 then.
DeleteHi my lovely!! As usual you've managed to pick a key style investment piece that not only goes with everything at anytime but also looks fabulous too, well done you!! Lovely outfit posts too, you've really done well from crossing summer to autumn in your perfectly picked items! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon! The more I look at the gilet, the more I can't wait to wear it...it is indeed a great investment piece. It's not easy dressing for the weather at the moment as it's chilly in the mornings but heating up later in the day....glad you think I'm handling this quite well ;0) xx
DeleteLove the black outfit and skinny jeans with slides look... it really does work well with all outfits, lovely post
ReplyDeleteX
I think that is my favourite of the Casual looks Anne-marie, thank you! xx
DeleteI'm so glad you finally got one Michelle & it really is perfect on you! Love it over the denim jacket! You look gorgeous in your lace dress too! Ax
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit of slog to get the right one but I got there in the end thanks to Damart Andrea!! I hope to get some more wear out of the lace dress in the coming months as I think it will look great with black opaques and leopard print pumps!! xx
DeleteLove it, furry but sleek at the same time, perfect!
