New shoes

And so I have. No prizes for guessing what my latest acquisition is.....more slides to be precise!! Even though I promised myself I would not cave and buy anymore shoes this season, I am guilty of a big fat fail! I just so happened to come across one last pair of the River Island white slides, in the sale and in my size! Obviously it was meant to be! Sadly these do now seem to be sold out online (unless you are after the black patent version, see here) you may get lucky in store though. Here they are on me!

Another shoe mantra I seem to be living by!

Well almost! They can certainly bring new life to old favourites clothing wise!

So, this post started off as a review of my best purchases so far this season. Then I realised it would all about shoes. You see, it is all about the shoes! For me they have been the staple of every outfit....it has been the shoe bringing the outfit up-to-date. I kicked off with the Kurt Geiger Laurel skaters. These are one of my favourite footwear purchases ever, they made even the plainest of outfits feel on trend! The good news is they are back in stock again!

After the success of the Laurel's I saw the Kurt Geiger Madison's and knew I would have to invest in these too! Espadrilles are every where this season, again they make the simplest outfit feel that bit edgier! These have been brilliant with everything from boyfriend jeans to a dress! These are still available too!

On the dressier shoe front.....well there have been 2 superb purchases, both in the way of black sandals! Yep, we are back to Kurt Geiger again! It was love at first sight with these Marant tributes! The KG Kad's have that very useful in-between block heel. Great for feeling a bit more dressier for day, but without a mega heel!

These gorgeous M&S Autohgraph cage sandals caught my eye back in April and I knew they would be the perfect sandal for an event when you are in need of a heel! I think these will be a wardrobe staple for years to come. Sadly stocks of these are long gone.

And so back to my obsession of the season. The slide. So I started off by buying the Pinterest inspired Birkenstock Arizona. If you are looking for a good deal on these I bought mine via Amazon.

Then of course more recently I stumbled across the Next Look silver slides and they became my wardrobe go-to as I love metallics in summer as they are such a great neutral! The silver has pretty much sold out but there is still stock in the mint and white.

Confession time now!! I am just a little bit ashamed to admit that back at the start of the season I did go a bit barmy by trying to fill a stiletto shaped hole in the wardrobe. I bought not one, not two but three pairs of shoes that I am yet to wear but I am sure to *need* at some point. The silver and nude courts were from Marks and Spencer and the black one's are New Look courtesy of ASOS. I think it is safe to assume that I am now fully stocked for an Autumn/Winter evening shoe!

So there we are! As you can see this season for me has indeed been all about new shoes! What has been your Achille's heel?

Here's what I've been wearing this past week.....

We have been blessed with some gorgeous weather which means more opportunity to get some of the high summer clothing out!

This is the outfit I wore for a little blogger meet up with the lovely Sharon from @Thrift My Style. The weather was not on our side as it lashed down pretty much the whole time we walked around Bath. However the sun did at last make an appearance allowing a cheeky alfresco drink before we parted! As usual there is no photographic evidence.....we were way too busy having a good time to remember such things :0)

River Island jacket (old)
Topshop cami (old)
Gap original fit jeans (last summer)
Jaeger pumps (old)
Hugo Boss bag (old)

The proof is in the pudding! As you can see from what I've been wearing most of the clothes are old favourites that have been bought up-to-date with new shoes!

As always I love reading and responding to your comments!

Wishing everyone a great week!

If only I had a beach party to go to!

One of my dearest friends is off to Ibiza for a long weekend (jealous moi? Not much!!) and it got me thinking as to what I would wear if I was lucky enough to find myself on such a trip! After a peruse around New Look last week, I would definitely be hot-footing it back there to stock up on my beach party gear!! Starting at the bottom and working my way up......I am in love with these glorious orange rainbow print strappy sandals, more than a smidge of the boho vibe about these!

The sandals are gorgeous but unless I was going somewhere they would be truly appreciated I am not sure I can justify! Something else that caught my eye was this festival style black tribal embroidered panel tassel hem bag, perfect for holding all your holiday essentials while you throw some shapes!

The Missoni-esqe pattern of these misumi orange zig zag print contrast trim running shorts, has completely won me over though! These could easily end up finding their way into my wardrobe as I do love my shorts and there is no excuse not to buy these at the moment with the wonderful weather we have been having here!

Lots of great little strappy tops to wear with the aforementioned shorts!

First up we have the white ethnic bead embellished front vest This is brilliant for just £9.99!

Some great peasant tops if you fancy something more covered up, these look brilliant with denim cut-off shorts too!

If a one-piece is more to your style then there are jumpsuits and playsuits galore!

Here we have the black tile print gathered waist bandeau jumpsuit These next 2 items are in the New Look Summer essentials promotion with 25% off so my finger is hovering over the checkout button for both!

Ending it all with a cute little white and neon coral low back embroidered swing dress! Currently with 25% off too!

There are many more gorgeous things in New Look for holidays but these are the items that really popped out at me in store.....and got me dreaming about an Ibiza-style weekend getaway! New Look are really having a moment for me, the silver sliders have been such a success and there are quite a few things I have featured here that I could end up snapping up for my holiday!
p.s apologies for the tiny New Look photo's!

Here's the usual round-up of the weeks outfits starting off with my H&M maxi which I wore when I went to meet the lovely Jane of My Midlife Fashion in Cheltenham on Saturday. We spent a gorgeous sunny afternoon sat outside a restaurant nattering over lunch and a bottle of prosecco! Me-time girly bliss at it's best!

H&M maxi dress (recent purchase, this is now reduced to £7.99)
Warehouse denim jacket (old)
H&M snakeskin pumps (last year)
Balenciaga bag (old)

When I got back that evening, me and the hubby hopped over to a neighbours for some supper!

Zara dress (this season)

Then all pretty casual outfits for the rest of the week !

Topshop denim shirt (this season)
New Look boyfriend shorts (last year)
New Look sliders (this season)

Zara jacket (old)
Topshop t-shirt (this season)
Gap original fit jeans (last year)
Birkenstock Arizona's (this season via Amazon)

Primark kimono (this season)
River Island vest (old)
H&M boyfriend jeans (last year)
New Look sliders (this season)

Mulberry top (old, factory shop purchase)
Zara boyfriend jeans (last year)

That's about all from me but on a final note.....I have accidentally had a bit of a face lift.....not of the surgical kind I hasten to add! I think it has gone pretty much unnoticed so far, but after fiddling with the blog the other day (with a glass of wine in one hand I might add)......I messed up and lost my original black & pink template! However I'm happy with the new unintentional make-over! I'm not very techie so in fear of messing things up any further I decided not to try and revert back so the new look is here to stay!

As always I love reading and responding to your comments.

Wishing you all a great end to the week!

Until next time!

A couple of little sale successes!

I am proud to report that sales haven't got me too carried away!! I only made a few little purchases, just a couple of things that caught my eye and I could justify! First up is this peasant blouse from Mango which has filled a little wardrobe hole and satisfied a yearning nicely! This top is already doing well on the pay per wear as you will see!

Another marvellous bargain that just happened to stumble across whilst hot-footing it through H&M was this classic black maxi. which was marked down to 7GBP!! I must have had the shopping fairy smiling down on me though as I think it was meant to be full price but even at £12.99 it is still a real steal!!

So here's another item I never thought I would see myself buying or wearing!! I don't think I've ever possessed a hoody but since my hubby is intent on camping at some point this year I thought this could end up being an excellent investment for those chilly mornings or evenings......would also do for the park life I will no doubt be participating in over the school holidays!! Another fantastic Primarni bargain at just 3 quid! I've convinced myself it has a whiff of Jack Wills about it!

Although these were not in the sale, these New Look silver sliders are such a bargain and I would say one of my best purchases of the season!! I have worn them so much already......you may have noticed that I have built many of my outfits around these sliders lately!!

So that's all my purchases revealed for the last couple of weeks! My goodness.....I have been pretty frugal for me! I am giving myself a pat on the back for spending less than £25 in the sales at least!! Anyone else had any really good luck in the sales or found anything that has been genuinely a great buy?!

The usual round-up of my outfits for the past week! With this lovely weather the shorts have come out to play! Yay!

Whistles top (outlet purchase, early this year)
Vero Modo shorts (holiday purchase, old)
New Look silver sliders (new purchase)
Jack Wills tote (last year)

River Island top (last year, they seem to do a variation every year though!)
Zara cream linen shorts (last year)
Tesco sandals (last year)

H&M maxi dress (new sale purchase)
Birkenstock Gizeh's (gifted from the lovely Thrift My Style)
Mulberry Dorset tote (still available)

Primark boiler suit (recent)
New Look sliders (recent)

Mango top (new sale purchase!)
Topshop cargo trousers (old)
Birkenstock Gizeh's (gifted from the lovely Thrift My Style)

Whistles top (old)
Pull & Bear jeans (current)
New Look Sliders (current)

Whistles dress (old)
Birkenstock Arizona (Amazon)

Mango top (new sale purchase!)
Vero Modo shorts (holiday purchase, old)
Birkenstock Gizeh's (gifted from the lovely Thrift My Style)

So there we have it! I have already worn all of my sale purchases so I deem them great successes! Don't forget to keep me posted on any of your sale news!!

As always, I love reading your comments and responding to them!

Until next time!

Have a great weekend, Michelle xx
