And so I have. No prizes for guessing what my latest acquisition is.....more slides to be precise!! Even though I promised myself I would not cave and buy anymore shoes this season, I am guilty of a big fat fail! I just so happened to come across one last pair of the River Island white slides, in the sale and in my size! Obviously it was meant to be! Sadly these do now seem to be sold out online (unless you are after the black patent version, see here) you may get lucky in store though. Here they are on me!
Another shoe mantra I seem to be living by!
Well almost! They can certainly bring new life to old favourites clothing wise!
So, this post started off as a review of my best purchases so far this season. Then I realised it would all about shoes. You see, it is all about the shoes! For me they have been the staple of every outfit....it has been the shoe bringing the outfit up-to-date. I kicked off with the Kurt Geiger Laurel skaters. These are one of my favourite footwear purchases ever, they made even the plainest of outfits feel on trend! The good news is they are back in stock again!
After the success of the Laurel's I saw the Kurt Geiger Madison's and knew I would have to invest in these too! Espadrilles are every where this season, again they make the simplest outfit feel that bit edgier! These have been brilliant with everything from boyfriend jeans to a dress! These are still available too!
On the dressier shoe front.....well there have been 2 superb purchases, both in the way of black sandals! Yep, we are back to Kurt Geiger again! It was love at first sight with these Marant tributes! The KG Kad's have that very useful in-between block heel. Great for feeling a bit more dressier for day, but without a mega heel!
These gorgeous M&S Autohgraph cage sandals caught my eye back in April and I knew they would be the perfect sandal for an event when you are in need of a heel! I think these will be a wardrobe staple for years to come. Sadly stocks of these are long gone.
And so back to my obsession of the season. The slide. So I started off by buying the Pinterest inspired Birkenstock Arizona. If you are looking for a good deal on these I bought mine via Amazon.
Then of course more recently I stumbled across the Next Look silver slides and they became my wardrobe go-to as I love metallics in summer as they are such a great neutral! The silver has pretty much sold out but there is still stock in the mint and white.
Confession time now!! I am just a little bit ashamed to admit that back at the start of the season I did go a bit barmy by trying to fill a stiletto shaped hole in the wardrobe. I bought not one, not two but three pairs of shoes that I am yet to wear but I am sure to *need* at some point. The silver and nude courts were from Marks and Spencer and the black one's are New Look courtesy of ASOS. I think it is safe to assume that I am now fully stocked for an Autumn/Winter evening shoe!
So there we are! As you can see this season for me has indeed been all about new shoes! What has been your Achille's heel?
Here's what I've been wearing this past week.....

This is the outfit I wore for a little blogger meet up with the lovely Sharon from @Thrift My Style. The weather was not on our side as it lashed down pretty much the whole time we walked around Bath. However the sun did at last make an appearance allowing a cheeky alfresco drink before we parted! As usual there is no photographic evidence.....we were way too busy having a good time to remember such things :0)
River Island jacket (old)
Topshop cami (old)
Gap original fit jeans (last summer)
Jaeger pumps (old)
Hugo Boss bag (old)
The proof is in the pudding! As you can see from what I've been wearing most of the clothes are old favourites that have been bought up-to-date with new shoes!
As always I love reading and responding to your comments!
Wishing everyone a great week!
